We're a group of UCalgary students — from biology, nursing, kinesiology, and beyond — who believe public health starts at the community level. Our goal is simple: turn what we're learning in the classroom into something that actually helps people in Calgary.

ImmunoReach started with a straightforward idea: UCalgary students know a lot about how the immune system works, but that knowledge doesn't always reach the people who could benefit from it most. We're an interdisciplinary team of students working to change that — through hands-on outreach, accessible education, and building partnerships with the Calgary community. We're not just studying health; we're trying to contribute to it.
Student-led research, community outreach, and care-based initiatives to support health awareness and dignity in Calgary.
We review current health literature and turn it into plain-language resources that anyone can actually use — no science background required.
We put together hygiene kits — shampoo, soap, a razor, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a handwritten note — and donate them to community members in Calgary who need them.
We run workshops and create digital content that makes disease prevention and immune health easier to understand for everyone.

Community partnerships in Calgary
Our team recently put together and donated 60 wellness kits for members of the Calgary community. Each kit included essential hygiene supplies and a handwritten note — a small gesture, but one that goes a long way.
This might seem like a simple act of charity, but there's a real public health connection. Basic hygiene — handwashing, oral care, skin health — is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of infection. For people experiencing homelessness or housing instability, consistent access to hygiene products isn't a given, which leaves them more vulnerable to skin infections, respiratory illness, and other preventable conditions.
From an immunology standpoint, the skin and mucous membranes are the body's first line of defence. When those barriers are compromised — often accelerated by poor hygiene access — the immune system has to work a lot harder. These kits are a small but meaningful way to support that first line of defence for community members who need it most.
Each kit contained shampoo, soap, a razor, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a handwritten note from one of our volunteers.
